I changed my name.
At the beginning of the year I wrote out a few goals that I had for the new year. One of them read “don’t lose sight of what’s truly important”. This has been clinging to my heart ever since i scribbled those words into my notebook.
A few weeks ago, I was sitting in church daydreaming when I heard God speak to me. I don’t think I’ve ever heard him as clear as I did that day. He softly told me, “ Change your name, the hands and the feet.” Immediately, I knew it was my blog. I originally created this blog to be a place for lifestyle content, but as I have grown spiritually so had this blog. Soon after creating my website, my posts turned into journals entries about my walk with the Lord. At that time my blog was Something Sam, a typical lifestyle blog name that for some reason I never felt satisfied with. Within I knew there was something else, but I didn’t know what. As I was sitting in church that Sunday, I finally understood.
I changed my name to Hands and Feet.
In 1 Corinthians 12:12 it says “For just as the body is one and has many parts, and all the parts of that body, though many, are one body-so also is Christ”.
This verse perfectly sums up what this blog was always meant to be, a body of people, going through life together. A place for community, love, empathy, and hope. A place where we can all lift each other up and point one another to Jesus in every aspect of our lives. A place where we can remember that God calls us to be his hands and feet.
the hands = doing his work.
the feet = walking as he walked.
So with this new name, I want to produce some change. Change in my life, change in your life, and eventually in the lives of the people we meet. Me writing a post and your reading a post, doesn’t inflict action, it’s simply me expressing my thoughts onto you. I hope Hands and Feet changes that. I hope it helps me and you to act upon our faith and live our lives as reflection of how Jesus lived his. Lastly, I don’t want this blog to be about me, it should be about us: the body of christ. Us, using all of our unique gifts as a part of the beautiful body that is in Christ. Us, knowing me are chosen, worthy, loved, beautiful, strong, and wonderfully made. If there is one thing I know for certain, it’s that, living for Christ is one heck of a ride, but there is nowhere else I’d rather be and nobody else I’d rather walk through life with.
So let’s embark on this adventure, TOGETHER.
Let’s be the hands and the feet.
-please note I did not change my actual name, just the name of my blog
